Somerset’s Best Motorhome Holiday Destinations

Known for its rolling hills, cider and cricket club there is so much to discover and explore in Somerset. Here are a few of our favourite places for you to visit on your luxury motorhome holiday in Somerset...

Taunton is an ideal place to visit if you are a cider lover. Sine 1917 Sheppy’s Cider has been in Bradford -on-Tone and is worth a visit. Offering a butcher’s counter, deli bakery counter, orchard walks, cider shop and café, and heritage museum there is lots to see and do. With only 16 touring pitches, the caravan club site, Cadeside Caravan club nearby is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay.

Another motorhome site on a cider farm is the Tanpits Cider Farm. Located just beside the Taunton and Bridgwater Canal, there are lovely walks and plenty of cafes for a tea and cake breaks! This historic, family run Cider Farm has been set in idyllic and peaceful surroundings of the Somerset countryside for over 100 years.

On your way to Bath a fabulous day out is The Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust.

Bath is oozing with history, from the Roman baths to its grand Georgian houses, parks and sweeping crescents, timeless attractions and Victorian gothic structures. Bath’s natural hot springs are what the city is most famous for, but it also has a fantastic cultural scene with plenty of theatre, music, comedy, art and more. Many films and TV shows have been filmed in Bath, from Oliver Twist to Bridgerton, thanks to its gorgeous and untouched architecture. Bath is famously full of attractions and amenities; it is the only city in the UK that is entirely a World Heritage Site so is protected by UNESCO, hence its unfaltering Georgian appearance.

Bristol is a cosmopolitan city, jampacked with a variety of different cultures, making it a buzzing city. Some of its most famous landmarks include, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Bristol Hippodrome, Balloon Fiesta and the harbourside which is lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. The surrounding area of Bristol is made up of beautiful countryside, so a perfect area for you to make a home away from home in your luxury motorhome.

Hills – Quantocks, Mendips, Blackdown

If you’re not looking for city experiences on your motorhome holiday, Somerset has a range of stunning, rolling hills, like the Quantocks, Mendips and Blackdowns, all of which are waiting for you to explore. They offer incredible walks with breath-taking views. A couple of our favourites include Cothelstone Hill, Lydeard Hill and Staple Hill.

Cheddar Caravan Club site is situated on the very edge of Cheddar Village and boasts magnificent views of the Mendips and surrounding countryside, and is a walker’s paradise. Amenities in the village include a variety of shops, pubs and takeaways. Cheddar Caves and Gorge boast a lot of history and discovery. The famous Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company is also within easy walking distance of the motorhome holiday site.

Wells is the smallest city in England with about 12,000 inhabitants. It can call itself a city because of the famous 13th century Cathedral. Wells remains remarkably unspoilt, with narrow streets and an eclectic mix of building styles. It  is definitely Worth a day trip out on your motorhome holiday!
